Carol has been working with tile and masonry for the past twenty-five years. She participated in a regional occupation masonry training program while concurrently obtaining her teaching credential. Teaching fifth grade for three years and then moving into the position of director of religious education for a local parish, Carol was also busy remodeling homes and working side jobs in tile and masonry. Finding great satisfaction in creating something beautiful in a very concrete way, she continued to refine her skills in tile and masonry in combination with her love of art, creative design and beauty in nature. In addition, Carol has spent the past twelve years learning much about the trades as a full-time owner/builder. She developed the skills needed to ensure a project is completed true to the design intent and inspiration with the utmost quality. She worked as a designer and craftsman as well as managed various professionals involved in an extensive project from laborers and contractors to architects and designers. Along with challenging and rewarding projects for clients, the last five years of Carol’s career have been dedicated to creating beautiful artful pieces and spaces in the garden. She was the sole landscaper for her designer garden leading her to specialize in garden art and hardscape design.
Carol continues to grow and develop her skills and talents as both an artist and craftsman. She keeps current on new technologies, materials and building practices through extensive research, conferences, and publications such as the Journal of Light Construction, the National Tile Contractors Association TileLetter, and Tile Magazine. She is also a member of SAMA, the Society of American Mosaic Artists.
Born and raised in Southern California, Carol resides in Los Gatos, California, with her husband and two children where she has lived for the past fifteen years. In addition to her work, she loves spending time with family and friends, being physically active, and being a positive contributing participant in both the local and global community. She sees the beauty in all things in life and continuously strives to share that beauty through her designs and creations.
